Winner of the Dawsons car wrap competition

Bishop Gore Pupil wins Dawsons ‘Wrap a car ‘ competition

Cora of Bishop Gore School entered the Dawsons Estate Agents competition in October to see her design wrapped around Dawsons newest fleet car this November.

Winner of the Dawsons car wrap competitionOur marketing coordinator Naomi Webborn explains:

“We held the social media competition throughout October inviting any young person to submit a design using the blank canvas of a white ‘VW up’ car.  Whilst we were overwhelmed with the entries received from local schools, girl guides and scouts and other local community groups throughout Llanelli and Swansea, Cora’s innovative design stood out greatly with her use of paint and imagination.  We thank all children who took part and urge all children to submit designs when we host similar competitions in the future.”

Both Cora and Helen (Bishop Gore’s head teacher) were so proud to see the design on the car when Dawsons visited recently.  When Cora was asked how she came up with her design she answered:

“As it’s an estate agency, I thought a key idea would be a good as it links the design to houses.  I’m very proud to have won the competition and I felt very excited to see the car as it’s my own design.”

Mrs Helen Bergum also commented: “We are very proud of Cora’s achievement.  Her creativity and enthusiasm for art have been magnificently embodied in this design. It’s fantastic for Cora and the community in Swansea to be able to see her design on a daily basis.”

Dawson’s company car fleet has become something of a blank canvass for local artists and photographers to show their work of late.  Since early 2016, Dawsons have wrapped their fleet with a number of unique and innovative designs from children’s drawings (competition designs), the work of two local photographers who we spotted on social media, local maps and throwback photos supplied by a local author.  We will be on the lookout for even more designs in 2019, so watch this space and keep your eyes out for the fleet in your local community.

Day 7:
#FRIDAYFUN
Elfie whizzes down a zip-wire in the Dawsons officeThrilled from his adventure yesterday, today Elfie decides he wants an adrenaline rush. After much thought, he decides the best adventure would be to zip-line through the office without a worry for his safety (he didn’t even put a hard hat on!)
As he moved through the office, he thought maybe this was a little too adventurous for such a little elf, and although he had enjoyed himself, he thought he better take the rest of the day nice and easy from here on in.
Day 8 and counting for Elfie:
ELFIE TAKES A DAWSONS CAR FOR A RIDE AROUND SWANSEA
After a restful Friday afternoon, Elfie decides he needs to experience the sights of the city around him.  Over the past few days, Elfie has noticed a set of vehicles driving past the window, all bearing this same logo “Dawsons”. It was Elfie’s task of the day to find these cars and he decided he was going to borrow one to take it down to see the wonders of the Gower.
(Hopefully not drive it into the sea – he doesn’t have his full licence as yet)!
Day 9 of Elfie’s adventures:
#SELFIESUNDAY
Selfie with Elfie Competition at Dawsons Property in Swansea
Whilst out on his adventures yesterday, Elfie counted the marketing boards and he was pleased to see his happy little face beaming down from 50 boards as he drove by! Elfie knew he simply had to stop and take a “SELFIE WITH ELFIE!” to share with his friends. Posting it on all his social media feeds and hoping his elf friends back home would like and share!
We are now on day 10 with Elfie:
Elfie finds a pile of glitter and cannot resist diving in“What a busy weekend,” Elfie thought to himself as he made a nice hot chocolate. It was time for Elfie to start to think about sending Christmas cards…  He looked at his supplies and realised he was missing a vital aspect… glitter!
Now he is sure he saw the Dawsons team member they all seem to call “Chris” carrying some glitter around earlier (Chris rolls everything in glitter!).  Hearing Chris leave his office momentarily Elfie sneaks down the stairs and climbs up onto the desk to find a huge tub of glitter!  Elfie grabs this with some haste and not realising the lid was loose knocks the pot over. Looking at the huge pile of glitter in front of him, Elfie squeals with delight and dives into it producing a lovely “glitter” angel.

Elfie is ready to really go back to his mischievous roots, for his next stunt he wanted to try something he has seen in comic strips and in the movies, he’s sure he’s seen a big copy box in this building! When he finally tracks down the photocopier, he knows this is going to be a fun evening and proceeds to take plenty of copies of himself!

Dawsons Take a selfe with elfie competition to win a Christmas HamperThe Adventures of the Dawsons Elfie

As the sun rose on Saturday 1st December 2018, Elfie woke full of festive spirit. He stretched and took in the last sight of this room, today was his moving day and he was heading to a bigger and brighter place, you see. He was off to see the lights and wonder of a big city (not too big a city mind, as we must remember he is a very little elf!).

Santa had promised young Elfie that if he was a good, helpful elf all year he would be able to spend this Christmas in Swansea! All Elfie had ever seen of the sea was on the back of toy boxes as he walked through the great toy warehouse, so Elfie was careful all year to make sure he behaved well and worked hard because he knew that Santa would always keep his promises to his elves. And Elfie so wanted to see the city!

Although for the past eleven months Elfie had been good, he is actually one of the cheekiest elves you are ever likely to meet! He is the kind of elf that would point and laugh if you slipped on a banana peel. You would often find him playing practical jokes on his brothers and sisters before he was old enough to work with Santa… He found it hilarious to put a big hairy plastic spider in his sister’s soup one day, Elfette hasn’t eaten soup since! Though this may sound mean Elfie never meant to cause any harm, he wouldn’t want to upset anyone, being an elf he has a kind heart but he just loves a little bit of mischief. He would never like to be called an evil elf though, he isn’t that bad.  Also, SANTA wouldn’t allow an evil elf in his workshops and warehouses and certainly never allow them to venture to Swansea!

#NEWMONTHNEWBEGINNINGS

Day One of Elfie's adventures in SwanseaDay 1: With a spring in his step Elfie jumped out of bed and started to pack the last few bits and bobs ready for the big move. He tucked his sleeping bag into the car, slid into the drivers seat excitedly opening the directions to his new home. He looked at the address and it was as Santa promised….SWANSEA! Elfie put the radio on and sang his heart out to ‘We Wish You A Merry Christmas’, ‘Jingle Bells’ and many other songs all the way to his new home. As Elfie pulled up outside his new house, he felt really lucky, Santa had fixed him up with a beautifully decorated home with a sea view for his stay in Swansea. Elfie looked up at the house and knew all his hard work had been worth it. Elfie decided he was going to like it here and he set about unpacking his belongings, knowing all to well that this month was going to be the most exciting of Elfie’s life and he couldn’t wait to start!

#SIMPLE SUNDAY

Day Two of Elfie's adventures in SwanseaDay 2 of Elfie’s Adventures:

Elfie spent all of his first full day in his new home unpacking and looking out of the window at the wonderful view. As the sun went down Elfie shuffled off to bed, he did have one box left to unpack, but he knew this would wait until the morning. A little grin appeared across his face as he glanced at the box before curling up and getting some well earned sleep!

 Day 3 of Elfie’s adventures:
Opening the final box was going to be fun, Elfie was so excited to get to the contents that he nearly fell over his own feet on his way to it, chuckling to himself, it would have been funny if anyone had fallen over their feet. Elfie gently opened the box and peeked inside, he reached in turning the item over in hands with a little glint in his eyes. Elfie quickly put the item back into the box and put the box back into his car, Elfie set off to do something that some may consider naughty but Elfie just wanted to announce to Swansea that he was here. Elfie had decided that he was going to go and find some Estate Agents “boards” like the one that had been outside his new home, and he was going to leave a little happy picture of himself on a few of these as everyone will surely want to come and see the new Elf in town!
Elfie snuck from board to board putting his little picture on his favourites giggling to himself as he went….

 #THIRSTYTUESDAY4

Day 4:

Since running around all of Swansea yesterday, Elfie has decided to have a quiet day today, whilst looking through his move-in pack he came across a Dawson’s “Reward Card”… This little card can give Elfie discounts at local participating businesses. Elfie decides today is going to be a relaxing day and he heads to “The Optimist” cocktail bar in The Uplands, where he uses his Reward Card on a couple of drinks and some snacks. Watching the people walk by outside Elfie is content… . But what is he planning?

#WHERESELFIEWEDNESDAY5

Day 5 of Elfie’s adventures:

Sunshine wakes Elfie up this morning, but Elfie isn’t in his bed, or even in his house! Perhaps he had one too many in “The Optimist Bar” last night…

He’s woken up surrounded by forest creatures and really wants to know how he got here and also how a panda got to Swansea? Answers on a postcard, please!

#TRICKSTERTHURSDAY
6Day 6:

The walk home yesterday and the making of a few new furry friends (especially Rusty the naughty red panda) has inspired Elfie to return to his cheeky roots.

As he passes through the office where his new home is located, Elfie tripped over a roll of Christmas wrapping paper and an idea popped into his head:  He was going to find the most important looking doors and Christmas wrap them (the ones with the locks must be the important ones, right?). Elfie giggled to himself as he taped up the doors, gave a quick high-five to Rusty and a look back at his work… Elfie headed to bed.

The winner will see their design wrapped around a new Volkswagen ‘Up’ by Hansign Custom Graphics when it arrives in November. The participating schools, community and youth groups will be announced on the agency’s social media sites on Monday, October 22nd  2018, allowing the competition design time to take place, before judging early November.

This year there is no set theme to the drawings, you get to freestyle and give us something from your imagination!

Any individuals or groups interested in participating should email naomi.webborn@dawsonsproperty.co.uk to express interest and Naomi will send an information pack and design specification by return.

All competition terms of entry can be read here.

Iconic Images for Dawsons Company Car Fleet

Something Old, Something New for Dawsons Fleet of Cars

In recent years Dawsons Estate Agency has used its fleet of company cars as innovative canvasses to catch the eye of people as they pass by. This has resulted in the creation of an array of attractive designs which reflect the communities surrounding each of its local offices and these can be seen driving around Swansea, Llanelli, Morriston, Gorseinon, Mumbles, Sketty & Killay.

The latest of these ‘mobile canvasses’ has appeared on the newest sales car to join the fleet at the firm’s Sketty branch. This time however, instead of eye-catching landscapes something a little different has been designed.  This new vehicle is wrapped with historic images of Sketty.

Dawsons contacted former journalist and now publisher, David Roberts, who for an amazing 21 years has been compiling pictorial nostalgia books which reflect the City and include photos of many locations where Dawsons sell and rent property, and have offered a well-established service for many decades.

Bryngold Books Swansea

David, whose latest publication, “Swansea – The time of our Lives”, by Bryngold Books, hits the shelves shortly, quickly responded to the request for Sketty-linked photographs to adorn the new VW Up city car.

DAWSONS CAR with DAVID ROBERTS IMAGERY

David (pictured with staff member Christine Adams from Sketty office, who will be seen driving around the area) said “Having spent many years contributing articles to the Swansea Evening Post’s Property Publication I  knew at first hand how professional Dawsons approach to the property market is. As a result I was delighted to assist.”,

David and Bryngold Books provided Dawsons with a number of iconic images of Sketty Cross from many years ago. Two of these were chosen and enlarged and printed in vinyl to wrap the new car. Most noticeable in one of the photographs, making the area instantly recognisable, is that of The Bush Public House, which will, no doubt, jog many a memory.

Chris Hope, our Dawsons senior partner said: “We would like our fleet to be unique, and take great pride in the fact that this new car is designed to be meaningful within its local community.”

DESIGN OUR NEXT CAR:

Our next company car design will be chosen from competition entries from all children aged 11 or under.  If you are a budding artist and wish to showcase your talents and see them turned into real moving pieces of art, find the details of our competition HERE.
