Halloween Trick or Treat

Our Halloween Story

It has been a strange week at the Dawsons HQ, let us tell you about it….

Last week we had a call from a lady, addressing herself as Mrs Addams (she was rather particular about the spelling), and she said that she had a property she wanted to have valued, in order to put it on the market for sales, or for rental.

She stated that the property was vacant, but she would meet our valuers Chris & Ricky there and show them around.  She also mentioned that another agency had been instructed to sell the property, but they had not been very good – apparently, none of the staff wanted to come and do the viewings!

So Ricky & Chris set off to their viewing at Brynhewlog, The Mayals, Swansea and we captured their visit on film, have a watch:

AFTERWARDS:
As if that wasn’t scary enough, on their return to the office, they found that Naomi and her son George (pictured) had picked and carved jack o’lantern pumpkins for the offices so they were all decorated ready for Hallowe’en. Despite being rather spooked, Ricky & Chris saw the funny side of our little prank!

Thanks go to Kevin Chellew for allowing us to film in his property, and for the fine “acting” by the spooky cast:-

  • Chris Hope & Ricky Purdy (Directors) as themselves
  • Jane (Marketing Team) Gardner as Mrs Addams
  • Naomi Webborn (Marketing Team) as Granny NomNom
  • Natalie Dare (Sketty Sales) as Camilla
  • Amanda Bamford (Gorseinon sales) as Naughty Daughter
  • Callum Thomas (Auction Team) as HorseHead Boy
  • Halee Miller (Marketing Team) as Wednesday
  • Cameraman George from JP Gardner & Associates

MACMILLAN COFFEE MORNING

Macmillan Coffee Morning 2018

What is it?

The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning takes place annually and this year the date was Friday 28th September.  It is Macmillan’s biggest fundraising event for those who support cancer patients in the UK and people all over the Country are asked to host their own Coffee Mornings and donations on the day are made to Macmillan. Last year (2017) alone they raised over £27 million and I’m sure that this will be another successful year.

How did it start?

The first ever Macmillan Coffee Morning happened way back in 1990. It was a rather a small affair with a simple idea: guests would gather together, drink coffee and donate the cost of their cuppa to Macmillan in the process. It was so effective, they did it again the next year – only this time nationally.  Since then, Coffee Morning has raised over £200 million for Macmillan, what an amazing achievement.

What does it mean to Dawsons?

With 150 staff, we have so many people whose lives have been touched by cancer, and at the moment one team member is undergoing treatment, so it really does mean the world to us.  Macmillan do an amazing job and they are truly special nurses and support teams who face a lot of heartache every day, but with positivity and smiles on their faces.

Our Macmillan Coffee Morning 2018

So this year we set out to make our Coffee Morning the biggest we have ever achieved, and we decided to run the event in conjunction with our “Cake Smash” competition sponsored by the amazing photography studio  Safelight Images in Swansea.

(Winner of competition to be announced on our FACEBOOK PAGE

Each of the Dawsons offices was tasked with making their coffee morning the best ever, and to be honest, I was blown away by the results and the tremendous effort put in by the team members.  So let’s have a run-down on how each office got on last Friday:

Marina office kicked off their morning at 9am with a veritable feast of baked goodies, and had their sales negotiator Laura Jayne Davies serenading the visitors with her amazing voice!  As you will see from all of the photos below, there were so many cakes made or donated, in all of the Dawsons offices, and visitors flocked in with their charity money, and were blown away with the efforts, look and taste of all these treats.

Personally, I think we could consider a new type of estate agency with a tea and cake shop on the side.  Now that would be a great idea, don’t you think?  Although, after watching how the cakes disappeared so fast, I have a feeling the staff may worry a little about their waistlines if this was an everyday occurrence.

Whilst we are still tallying up the proceed for Macmillan, with a number of donations from local businesses yet to come, I have noted the running totals for some of the offices, under their branch names, so you can see it’s at least £700 so it really has been a worthwhile event, for our community networking and for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Well done to everyone who baked, donated, supported and enjoyed the morning!  Bring on 2019…

You can probably imagine how extensive this competition is, how difficult it is to be on the shortlist for a chance to win a REGIONAL OR NATIONAL AWARD and find out if Dawsons have been ranked “Exceptional” (top 5%), “Excellent”(top 10%) or “Highly Rated” and listed again on the bestestateagentguide.co.uk.

DAWSONS SHORTLISTED FOR THE EA MASTERS

So on the 12th of October 2018 the Dawsons team will be heading down to the Intercontinental Hotel at Excel in London Docklands, for a full day of learning from some amazing presenters, and then the highlight is the Awards presentation with our sporting favourite Gabby Logan.

Watch this space or check out our social media pages on the day, for news of how we have fared.  We are keeping everything crossed, and we thank all of our amazing customers for just being GREAT!

DAWSONS ESTATE AGENTS IN KILLAY

Killing It In Killay

Going the extra mile is our motto at Killay Branch.  It is an absolute pleasure to make our clients happy, that’s what our jobs are all about after all.

It is probably due to this fact that our Killay branch is absolutely “killing it” and smashing our targets for sales and lettings.

Watch Callum Thomas (our sales negotiator) on his very first video, talking about the property current market, the asking prices being achieved, the speed at which property is being sold, some of the best areas (for instance Gowerton, Elmer Estate, North Gower) and how Dawsons are the market leaders.  We think that Callum is a total pro in front of the camera, so watch out for many more videos to come!

Callum and Sharon from our Killay Branch pictured on a valuation and measure-up at a property in Penclawdd North Gower.  The house had so much land that the vendor requires 4 tractors! Of course, the Dawsons guys had to have a go and get a picture with them!
