Dawsons staff get in the festive spirit on Christmas Jumper Day

Dawsons staff have got into the festive spirit and come to work in their best Christmas jumper to raise much needed funds for the charity Save the Children.

Tim Kostromin, Dawsons Partner, Dawsons Partner, said: ”As a company we carry out many fundraising events throughout the year for local charities, and our staff have taken part in the annual national Christmas jumper day for some years now.

“With many offices also having their Secret Santa exchange on the same day, so the day for us all really is an enjoyable one.  We are lucky to have so many staff within the company willing to get involved in raising the much needed funds for all the charities we help.

“With Christmas Day just around the corner we know that while there are many children excited for the presents they will find under the tree there are many who will go without, so raising money for Save the Children at this time of year is crucial across the nation.”

Dawsons staff tackle 200ft Port Eynon cliff face for Wales Air Ambulance

A group of intrepid Dawsons staff have taken part in a charity abseil to raise much-needed funds for the Wales Air Ambulance.

The team from the sales, auction and lettings staff took to abseiling down a 200 foot cliff at Port Eynon on Gower. They then climbed back up around the cliff edge with the aim of raising around £1000.00 via their Just Giving page.

Jo Summerfield, Director of Sales at Dawsons, said; “At Dawsons we are keen to help local charities throughout the year, fundraising where we can.  Wales Air Ambulance is a fantastic charity saving lives daily in Wales and transporting those in need to hospitals all over the country.

“As the Wales Air Ambulance charity runs purely on donations we were keen to raise as much as possible. Special thanks also to Naomi Webborn who heads our marketing team that collectively got this great charity event off the ground.

“We were all a little scared getting over the cliff face but once we were over, enjoyed every minute. I can’t wait to see what our marketing team come up with next time.”

Naomi Webborn of Dawsons lettings department, said: “A fantastic time was had by all. In fact, it was a great team bonding session with the added bonus of raising the much need funds to keep the ambulance flying year on year.

“A big thank you goes to all those who sponsored us, and a special thank you to the Wales Air Ambulance media team who came to cheer us on at the cliff top along with Stephen and Sam of Dynamic Rock who kept us safe.”

Dawsons’ staff raise money for Ty Olwen Hospice through special Wimbledon tennis event

After raising money from a special Wimbledon spot-the-ball competition generous Dawsons staff have donated a cheque to Ty Olwen Hospice at Morriston Hospital for £1,575.43.

Staff in all Dawsons’ offices and branches held the event in the final week of Wimbledon fortnight to raise the funds.

“We are incredibly grateful for the staff of Dawsons, and especially the Morriston branch, for presenting us with this very generous donation,” said Helen Murray, Chairman of Ty Olwen Trust.

“We couldn’t run Ty Olwen if it wasn’t for kind people like Dawsons’ staff for helping us raise some of the £420,000 we need to maintain the service we give.”

It is part of Dawsons’ continued pledge to raise money for community charities. Recently the Llanelli branch took part in the inaugural Burry Port Raft Race, sponsored by the estate agent, raising money for the RNLI and an African football charity.

“I have to give a big thank you to all our staff and particularly those in Morriston who raised this money for Ty Olwen with the Wimbledon tennis event,” said Chris Hope, Senior Partner at Dawsons.

“I think everyone knows someone affected by cancer and we should all be grateful for the wonderful work Ty Olwen does at Morriston Hospital in caring for people with cancer.”

Dawsons asking for old boots to help African football foundation

Dawsons proudly sponsored the first ‘Burry Port Raft Race’, raising money for a joint cause: Burry Port RNLI and Afia Banjul Children’s Football Academy Foundation in Africa.

The African football academy is headed locally by Craig and Izzie Goodman who live in Burry Port and are also actively involved in the RNLI.

Now, Dawsons want to help continue raising money for Afia Banjul Children’s Football Academy Foundation

“We are asking, firstly for everyone to make contact with friends and family and bring in to Dawsons offices any old or unused, children’s or adult sized, multi-stud football boots and/or flat-soled trainers,” said Senior Partner Chris Hope.

“Don’t worry about the condition. We can collect them at each office and give them to Craig and Izzie, so they can take out to Africa for their needy football team.

“There’s a new season starting soon, so no doubt many boys/girls/women/men will have out grown an old pair and be putting on the latest brightly coloured new boots/trainers.

“So, I’d ask you all to speak with anyone you can and bring in the old pairs, when they are available.”

Added Chris: “The day was a huge success for the charities and another success the Llanelli sales and rental staff deserve a special mention especially raft team members Matthew Whitehead and Joe Chiffi.

“The staff gave up their family time to help set up and spent most of their day raising money for the joint cause.”

Dawsons-sponsored Burry Port Raft Race makes real splash for charity

Dawsons failed to win the Burry Port Raft Race but were delighted to sponsor a thoroughly successful event watched by 100s of people on quayside.

Appropriately, the race was won by Burry Port RNLI, one of the two charities that benefitted from the event. Money was also raised Afia Banjul Children’s Football Academy in The Gambia.

“It was a fantastic day and we were delighted to be the main sponsors of the event,” said Chris Hope, Dawsons’ Senior Partner.

raft1“There were 100s of people there to support the race and the crowds were two or three deep on the quayside cheering on the rafts.

“Unfortunately, our raft team did not win but it’s a huge thank you to our team of Matthew, Joe, Erich and David for taking part and finishing.

“And a big thank you also has to go to the staff in the Llanelli lettings and sales teams for all the hard work they did behind the scenes.”

Chris also presented the RNLI with the winners’ prize live on The Wave, who were there all afternoon entertaining the crowds.
